ChamEdu (the parent app “ChamEdu - Parental Control” and the child app “ChamEdu Kids”, together the “Service”) helps parents manage how their children use their phones. The developer of ChamEdu (“we”, “us”) collects and uses only the minimum information needed to provide the Service. If this English version and the Korean version differ, the Korean version prevails for users in Korea.
| Category | Information | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Parent account | Sign-in provider (Google, Kakao or Naver), the provider’s account ID, email address and nickname | Identifying you, signing in, and backing up your children and settings so they can be restored on a new phone |
| Child profile (entered by the parent) | The child’s name or nickname, the family time zone and language | Telling children apart in the parent app, applying schedules in the right time zone, and sending alerts in your language |
| Notifications | Push notification tokens (Firebase Cloud Messaging) of the parent and child devices | Sending alerts to the parent (e.g. changes in the child device’s status) and syncing rules to the child device |
| Child device | List of installed apps, app usage time, blocked attempts, protection status (heartbeat, whether Accessibility is on), security events (e.g. an attempt to remove the app) | Applying the app and site blocks set by the parent, managing screen time, and showing usage statistics |
| Time requests | The app or schedule the child asks about, the minutes requested, the reason the child types, and the parent’s decision | Letting the child ask for more time and the parent approve or decline |
| Weekly report | A short text written from that week’s usage statistics (one version for the parent, one for the child) | Summarizing the week’s screen time for the parent and the child |
| Payments | Google Play subscription purchase token | Checking subscription status and providing paid features (card and other payment details are handled by Google; we never receive them) |
What we don’t collect: location, call logs, the content of text messages, photos, contacts, or browsing history. To block websites, the child app checks the address entered in a browser on the device; only attempts to open a site on the parent’s block list are counted as blocked attempts. Screen content is used only to decide what to block and is never stored or sent.
Information from the child’s device is processed because a parent or legal guardian installs the child app and links it to their own account in order to supervise the child. The Service is designed to be used with the child’s knowledge, and we encourage parents to talk with their child and agree on the rules before installing it. Data from the child’s device is linked to a random pairing code and to the parent’s account; it does not include the child’s contact details. Parents can review this information in the parent app and delete it at any time (see section 4). If you believe a child’s information was provided without a parent’s involvement, please contact us and we will delete it.
We don’t sell your information or share it with third parties for their own purposes. We use the following service providers to run the Service:
| Provider | What they do | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Web Services, Inc. | Server hosting and data storage | Australia (Sydney region) |
| Google LLC (Firebase) | Sending push notifications | United States and other countries |
| Google LLC (Google Play) | Processing and verifying subscription payments | United States and other countries |
| Anthropic, PBC | Writing the weekly report text with AI. It receives the child’s name or nickname and that week’s usage summary (daily minutes, the most-used app names, and blocked-attempt counts). | United States |
This means your information may be processed in countries other than your own, which may have different data-protection laws. We may also disclose information when required by law.
You can ask to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your information, and, where applicable, to receive a copy or to object to processing. In the app you can remove a child and sign out; for anything else, such as deleting your account, contact us at the address below and we will respond without delay. Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU or UK GDPR), you may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
